gosh did i ever miss the hallows boys and their queen and what a pleasure it’s been diving head first back into their world revamped!!

throughout my time reading, i felt a plethora of emotions. i thought to myself, “ohh im gonna mention this, and this, and this” in my review at the end…just for my heart to burst at the end of the book. i felt happy, upset, shocked, wet, and basically every emotion on the radar all while reading it and i’d gladly do it all over again if i could.

i can gladly say that this deliciously dark read brought me out of my reading slump and im so so so in love with each of these characters in more ways than one!

In this story, we meet The Hallows Boys…

Kaiden: Known as the “leader” of the pact, beyond dominant, irresistibly sexy, smart, hands on, strategic, and a lover boy for his only queen 👑

Beckham: the sweetheart and ladies man, lover of all things Sage and Vinny, thoughtful, dominant, a knight in the dark ðŸ–Ī

Vinny: the shadow (not to be mistaken as anyone easily missed, cause he sure isn’t) of Beckham, lowkey, mysterious, loveable, and dark ☠️

And last but certainly not least, the woman who walks all these three boys on her leash…

Sage: The Hallows Queen, the owner of all three men’s hearts, a go-getter, smart, loyal, beautiful, and wise ðŸĨ€

Every character has something that any reader can relate to in their own way and I find that that is exactly what drew me into the world of Blackmore. back when i first read the original Hallow Boys duet, i remember falling in love with the atmosphere that Rosie built and the way each character had so much depth yet redemption behind them and how they came to be. reading about their story, put together in one, revamped and rewritten beautifully, and how it had such a dark but beautiful ending in the end after being apart of this world since the release of the original Hallow Boys duet is a high i will never get over.

from the chapters of smut after smut, to the chapters of my heart being ripped from my body just for it to be glued back on a while after, from the happiness and peace i felt in the end…wow. it’s a beautiful feeling to read a story that makes me feel the way Rosie’s stories do. she builds such unique, original, and beautiful stories that it’s easy to forget about any and everything else. all praise goes to the one and only: Rosie Alice.

i know that Sage and her boys’ world is a world i will never forget or leave no matter how hard i try.

i am eternally grateful to have received an ARC from Rosie Alice and her team ðŸ–Ī.

buried within releases January 24, 2026 and you will not want to miss it!!

The blurb is what sucked me into this read and I figured to give this novella a shot. Coming out of it, I’m not disappointed.

Though it was hard to feel the “connection” between Hayden and Alec, the chase and the sexual chemistry was basically there.

Judging by the end of this, there will either be a part 2 to Hayden and Alec’s story or a full story to come. Definitely seems pretty interesting.

Book Blurb:

Alec
Forgive me, father, for I am about to sin.
She’s my addiction. My drug of choice. Mine.
But she doesn’t know that. Yet…
But come Halloween night, she will be mine.
Even if I need to hunt her down, Hayden Macey will be mine.
Run baby run.

Hayden
Everywhere I turn, I feel like someone’s there, watching me.
Watching every move I make.
And just to make things worse, I have to work the night of Halloween at our town’s haunted carnival.
No matter where I run, where I hide, the feeling is always there.
But now I’m not so sure it’s a feeling anymore…

after months, if not a year or more, of leaving this series on my tbr, I decided to finally jump right into it and damn was I ever served.

“I will tear throughout the sky, rip heavens gates apart if that’s what it takes to prevent you from being at risk again. They will have to raise hell to stop me from protecting you. You understand?”

overall, these characters kinda reminded me of If the Devil's Night and Legacy of Gods series’ had a Baby. similar events (very slightly though), similar character traits, and all in all similar worlds - I’m not complaining though.

Alistair and Briar were such a power couple in the end. I loved both of their characters equally as much and I loved how they ended up together. with that being said, the reason why I am giving this book 4 stars rather than 5 is because something was missing for me. As much as I love Alistair and Briar, I didn’t really feel the connection or chemistry between them.

the sexual chemistry and romance were definitely there between them at the end but it felt as though these two got together kinda out of nowhere? I mean yes they had their eyes on one another for a while and I get that, but the tension and suspense leading up to them actually getting together wasn’t there.

however, with all that being said, aside from the lack of connection I felt between these two, I loved everything else. I’m so so excited about all of the other guys’ books and what ends up happening in them.

Book Blurb:

It’s been months since the day we stood above that empty grave that stunk of burnt flesh and secrets. All of us were dressed to the nines, one of us wearing a wedding dress, a day that was supposed to mark the beginning of a new adventure.
It marked the bitter end of our vengeance.
We have done things that have marked our souls for eternity.
But before we get there, we have to go back.
Back to where it all started.
The place I could find in my sleep.
Hollow Heights University in the macabre, somber seaside town of Ponderosa Springs.
A college for prestigious, wealthy children to receive the highest education. A town drowning in treachery and secrets that became our damnation.
But it wasn’t the forest surrounding the grounds or even the mysterious hidden mausoleum that haunted me.
It was them.
The ones that lurked in the night, things so wicked, so twisted, so evil, they would become the rulers of my nightmares.
The Hollow Boys.
One wrong move and I landed myself directly in their line of fire.
This is not a story about love, it is not a story of happy endings.
Love just happened to blossom in our sorrows, in our pain, our fear, our blood.
Every terrible thing they ever did, we watched, we helped, we loved them anyway.
Some run from their monsters, we fell in love with ours.

“Maybe not like other people, Maybe it’s not normal love at all, but Hazel?” He meets my eyes, still smiling. “I fucking love you to death.”

You’d think with the above quote that this book is really good, right? Wrong.

To summarize, I didn’t like this book mainly because of how boring it was. The premise was very promising, and the plot was very promising, but I feel like the author failed with their execution. Both the MMC and FMC lacked in many ways which was one of the main reasons why I felt like the book slacked.

Especially for a serial killer, you would think the MMC would have….more…to him. Did he though? No. He was so boring and I feel like the author tried to make the sex between the MC’s “really good and kinky” to make up for the lack of events and plot. The smut was nothing I hadn’t read before either. Don’t get me wrong, there was some “drama” (if you can call it that) throughout the book and it wasn’t as bad as previous books I have read but this book just did not live up to my standards.

It sucks to say all this as well cause the story started off very strong and promising just to flatline from the 25-30% mark and onwards.

Book Blurb:

Nothing bad happens at summer camp.

That’s what my fellow camp counselors have convinced me of when the nights around the lake get a little eerie.

But when the kids all go home and the counselors throw a party on our last night at Camp Clearwater, things change. None of us could have suspected that there was a stranger watching us or that our machete-wielding visitor doesn’t seem to like that we’re here. But when I'm attacked in the woods, he unexpectedly comes to my rescue in the most ruthless way.

Wren is terrifying, unpredictable, and possessive in a way that terrifies me. I should go to the police and stay away from him at all costs. Instead, I find myself letting him in every time he comes to play.

Can a brutal butcher ever really fall for me, or am I going to become his next victim?

Book Tropes:

okay wow. there was definitely a lot of…drama in this book to the point that I felt like I was watching a teen drama show.

the FMC’s mom was sick and so messed up that it’s understandable why the MMC hated the FMC for the longest time. the things that happened to the MMC due to the FMC’s mom being sick and so depraved that i felt so bad for him once the truth/mini-plot twist was revealed.

with that being said, I felt as though the execution was a bit…underwhelming and I don’t feel the “connection” or “chemistry” between the MMC and FMC either, especially at the end. on top of that, the FMC was so exhausting.

I’ve read countless books where the FMC is seen as a “weak gazelle” with no backbone and no sense of standing up for herself, yeah well the FMC in this book takes the cake. she was beyond weak, had no backbone, no sense of awareness, and always wanted to help the MMC even after the shit he put her through (understandably so as I found out in the end). she always wanted to help him and insisted on being friends and being close with him and in my head I was like “Are you dense?,” because she never stood up for herself and let the MMC and a couple others treat her like absolute shit. who the FMC was as a whole just wasn’t for my liking and I found the MMC quite boring honestly.

overall, this story wasn’t anything too exciting. it felt similar to other step-sibling romances in the sense that the enemies-to-lovers trope played a big role in it. the characters were nothing interesting and the book was just meh for me.

Book Blurb:

The first time we met, it was an accident.

The second was the night my mother told me she was marrying his father.

I didn’t know his name then, but I do now.

Hayes Ambrose.

Captain of the swim team.

Popular, gorgeous, the guy every girl wants, with a smile that's hiding a million secrets.

In the beginning, I was certain we would become fast friends, until the day I heard a conversation that I was never supposed to hear.

Overnight he became my worst nightmare, my bully.

He’ll do anything to keep me quiet, and I’ll do anything to discover the truth.

Until the truth is revealed and I realize it’s far more terrifying than I ever expected.

Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton ðŸĨ€ðŸ”Š

Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton  ðŸĨ€

Book Tropes:

- stalker
- dark
- enemies to lovers
- touch her and die

My Review:

 stars

“I stalk her because I’m addicted. I’m fascinated with every move she makes, every word that comes out of her pretty pink mouth. And now, I’m addicted to her scent, her taste, and the way she sounds when she’s scared for her life — just as much as I’m addicted to the way she sounds when she’s begging for more.”

I wish I knew where to begin this review. I truly do. I guess the safest way to start it is by saying that it’s true when some people say Booktok sets unrealistically high expectations for books, just for you to go into a book with these expectations and come out of it like “This is what everyone hyped up?”

for starters, I’d like to preface this review by saying I went into this book knowing the majority of what happens, who does what, and all the “popular quotes” and reasons why everyone loves Zade. i love zade, i love addie…I just expected so much more than I received. people said the ending was so sad and so unexpected…I honestly don’t think so. that’s the ending that tore everyone up? lol. the overall plot of the book had its highs and its lows and I honestly feel like it lacked..something. it lacked something to keep me engaged and feel the need to keep reading. I DNFED this book around two years ago around the 20% mark and I still understand why.

I think I only have myself to blame really cause I went into this book with the expectations and standards that Booktok and Bookstagram have implicated on me, thinking this book would alter my brain chemistry in the best way. in reality, I’m coming out of this book with the same brain chemistry I had going into it and the strong feeling of being underwhelmed. nothing extravagant really happened in my opinion, at least nothing I haven’t read before, nor was there any moment in time where I felt like this book was gonna end up being that memorable for me.

it’s a dark romance for sure, with many dark themes and decent smut, but that’s really it. zade can definitely be considered a book boyfriend of mine, but not one that stands out from the rest (lol). everything he did for Addie was so cute, the “popular quotes” mentioned and highlighted in this book is definitely worth all the hype they get, but that’s it. honestly, I think this book is more “life-changing” to people new to the dark romance genre than people who have read many dark romance books and are used to dealing with such heavy themes in their reads. that doesn’t go to say I’m judging anyone cause of course not, but I’m sadly coming out of this book underwhelmed and having none of my standards or expectations (thanks to social media and other reviews) met.

crossing my fingers I like hunting Adeline better than this one.

Book Blurb:

The Manipulator

I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.
I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh.
But my words don't affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave.
He's always there, watching and waiting.
And I can never look away.
Not when I want him to come closer.

The Shadow

I didn't mean to fall in love.
But now that I have, I can't stay away.
I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves.
The way she undresses...
I'll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine.
And once she is, I'll never let her go.
Not even when she begs me to.

Satan's Affair by H.D. Carlton 🎊😈

Satan'a Affair by H.D. Carlton ðŸŽŠ

Book Tropes:

- why choose

- badass FMC

- haunted house type of vibes

My Review:

 stars

I wanted to like this. I really did. it was just so…boring.

I’m extremely late to the Haunting Adeline and its World party, but I figured it was time for me to dive right into the world that started most people on dark romance.

I am far from new to the dark romance world so this story wasn’t that much for me to handle and most likely why I didn’t enjoy this story as much. I definitely think this story would make “new-to-the-dark romance-genre” readers psyched out, but I guess to me this story was meh and nothing I haven’t read before in other dark romance stories. yes, what happened to Sibby was so fucked and I loved to finally get a glimpse of Zade in this story, however, this story felt more like a drag to me than anything. I didn’t really enjoy it that much and I found it boring that I skimmed the majority of it to be done with it. the ending was decently cool though if we’re talking plot twists.

sucks to say this too because I’ve heard so much praise about this story. I’m hoping Zade’s duet makes up for it and they live up to the hype.

Book Blurb:

Every Halloween, Satan's Affair will come to you.

We travel the country, offering terrifying haunted houses, thrilling rides and the tastiest food. And with every passing town, I cleanse this world, one execution at a time.

I hide within the walls, casting my judgement for those that reek of evil, singing lullabies to their rotting souls.

Once you've been chosen, there's no escaping my henchmen—they cater to my every desire.

You can run and you can hide, but it only excites me.

Come.

Take a walk through my dollhouse, where your screams will blend and your cute little pleas will go unanswered.

But I can't promise it'll be over quickly...

Make Me Pretty by Marie Ann ðŸĐ·ðŸ–Ī

Make Me Pretty by Marie Ann ðŸĐ·

Book Tropes:
- enemies to lovers
- foster brothers
(not saying more due to spoilers)

My Review:
☆☆☆ stars

As expected, Marie Ann does it again bringing us another amazing MM story with two characters you can't help but get all the feels for. I've been HIGHLY anticipating Abel and Peris' story since reading the little teaser of them in the Worthy anthology a while ago and evidently, their full story did not disappoint.

"He brings out the worst in me. The parts I thought I'd buried deep, had to be concealed if I wanted to survive. If I wanted to ensure what he did to me didn't change me. But it did. Of course, it did. How could it not?"

For starters, the ending was highly unexpected. Though it does end off on a bit of a cliffhanger, it isn't something that drastically changes the 'themes' of Peris and Abel's relationship. With this story ending the way it did, it leaves much more anticipation for the next book in this series. Going into this story, I knew that it would drift far away from the typical 'romance' story which made me even more excited to read it because of my love for the dark and twisted. With that being said, Peris and Abel's story is not for the faint of heart. Their story covers very dark and important themes which is why I advise those who may not have read any dark romance previously or may have certain triggers, to read the trigger warnings ahead of time. Personally, I don't have any trigger warnings, which is why I dove right into this book blindly and willingly.

"I know it pisses you off. How you hate all the attention. The way everyone notices how I can't keep my eyes off you. They think I want you. They think you want me, too."

I could say so much about this story and how much I loved it, but I would definitely be here all day if I were to do so. I love how both characters had their own differences, especially in personality, and yet they still bonded over many different things regardless of these differences. Especially with both characters being 'enemies' for the first part of the book, I already knew that would result in high sexual tension, suspense, and a good amount of smut (which I got in clear Marie Ann fashion - amazing!) I'm genuinely surprised my Kindle hasn't exploded due to the amount of highlights I've made while reading lol. Though this story takes place in a high school setting...it somehow didn't feel like it. The setting and genre of the book consisted of more 'dark,' almost eerie type of settings which made the reading experience all the better.

Anyways, going back to what I said about the dark/heavy themes of this book - I mean it. Both Abel and Peris have gone through significant amounts of trauma which broke my heart piece by piece as I read on. My heart aches for them both and seeing what they both went through because how could it not?? No one deserves to go through such trauma, be called such disrespectful things by others, and be treated as anything other than equal - which adds to my next mini message. With the heavy topics mentioned in this book come important messages that impact so many people around the world daily. Regardless of your race or your sexuality, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has the right to be treated equally with respect. Though this story is a work of fiction, the real message/messages behind the book are very real and something all of us should take with us.

All in all, I enjoyed this book so much! Along with the MCs being as good as they were, I liked the 'side' characters as well. The ending, as I mentioned earlier, definitely left me a bit shocked and desperate for more which is why I can't wait for book 2 in the series. I'd like to give a big big thank you to Marie Ann and Kayla for providing me with an ARC.

"It's because he made it real. Made me feel...like I wasn't all wrong on the inside."

Book Synopsis:

Abel Silver has only ever known the ugly. The most vile and repulsive acts of humankind. And it’s that kind of depravity that has made him into who he is. Someone wretched and devious. A soul fractured from verity.
Peris Baxter caught Abel’s eye so vehemently, Abel can’t help but to use Peris’s maelstrom to toy with him. To shred him open in hopes his viscera spills, giving Abel a glimpse of who he is at his core.
But Peris has demons too—and they dance beautifully with Abel’s. It’s the one thing neither of them could have anticipated, and now they’re both trapped within each other. Ugliness bared. Skeletons abraded. Anguish fused.
Is it possible to find respite with someone who shares your madness?

Unpretty by Ellie Lukas ðŸĶĒ💓

Unpretty by Ellie Lukas ðŸĶĒ

Book Tropes:
- friends to lovers
- MMC falls first
- found family
- love at first sight

My Review:
☆☆☆ stars

For a novella, this story was somewhat alright. It started off very well…but then it just fell flat for me. I find that this story and the events that took place in it were rushed and would have benefited more if this was a full-length novel rather than a novella.

I felt a tad confused at times (specifically in the little plot twist part) and I skimmed the majority of the ending primarily because there was lots of smut (which I love, don’t get me wrong, but in a novella…it was a bit too much in my opinion.) and the “explanation” of the plot twist confused me.

Also, I found that the main characters fell too hard for one another too fast that it was unrealistic. I know “love at first sight” and all but…meh. I don’t believe that this novella will be that memorable to me.

Book Synopsis:

Spearcrest Devil by Aurora Reed 😈ðŸ–Ī

Spearcrest Devil by Aurora Reed ðŸ˜ˆ

Book Tropes:
- enemies to lovers
- MMC falls first
- fake "relationship" (kinda)
- possessive MMC

My Review:
☆☆☆ stars

As I was with book 4 in this series, I’m underwhelmed.

Since book 1, I was highly anticipating Lucas’s book because I have a thing for the “broken bad boys” of the dark romance book world, but coming out of his book, I don’t feel much of anything. This book wasn’t bad per se, but it also wasn’t that great.

Compared to the other books in this series, this story was far less repetitive which is a good thing but it also wasn’t much of an “entertaining” plot. I found that I disliked Willow just as I did Zahara (still hate Zahara more though if I’m honest) and because there was a fair amount of degradation and hate involved in this book, I didn’t feel much of a connection between Willow and Luca. Don’t get me wrong, I loveee the enemies-to-lovers trope and degradation in my books, but even when the two were supposedly “in love” with one another, I still felt like Luca fully loved Willow far more than she ever could him. Evidently, the issues I have with this book are similar if not the same as I did for Iakov and Zahara’s book which sucks to say.

“Wherever you go, whatever you do, whoever you fuck, Lynch, you’re mine, you will always be mine. Contract or no contract.”

It was great to read the epilogue and get a little “reunion” with all the Kings and their girls at the end even if Luca wasn’t invited which was funnily ironic (not as much as Willow having Sophie as a lawyer though).

Regardless, it wasn’t the worst book I’ve read and this series was definitely an interesting start for the author. I’ll definitely be reading her future books.

Book Blurb:

Luca Fletcher-Lowe - The Devil

My life unfolds behind the curtains of London's exclusive clubs, where I hold the city's elite in the palm of my hand. The only thing I value is power, and secrets are my currency.

And then I meet her. The mysterious girl with the poison eyes. She turns the tables on me and swipes the power right out of my hands. And then she runs, thinking she got away with it.

She thinks I won’t catch her—but she’s wrong. I’ll stop at nothing to find her and punish her for her hubris.

Willow Lynch - The Shadow

Revenge isn’t just my duty—it’s my passion. My goal is to settle the score against those who've wronged me; every rich, worthless man I crush in my path is just a bonus.

Then I meet Luca Fletcher-Lowe. Despite his reputation, Luca is no different to any other rich man: just another worm to crush under my boot.

Maybe adding insult to injury and leaving him bound and injured in a hotel room was a mistake. But devil or not, I’m not scared of Luca Fletcher-Lowe.

If he wants to hurt me, he’ll have to catch me first.

Book Tropes:

- enemies to lovers
- rich girl x rich? guy

My Review:
 stars

3 stars for Iakov and Iakov only ðŸĨđ

As expected, Iakov’s book was filled with so much trauma, deep feelings, suspense, drama, but in the end - love.

My heart literally broke for Iakov as I was reading through his past, what happened to him and what continued to happen to him as he grew older 😭. I knew there was so much more behind his silent and mysterious demeanor since seeing crumbs of his story in Zach’s book. I love him beyond belief which definitely cannot be said for how I feel about Zahara.

Quite frankly, I found her a disrespectful bitch lol. The whole “dog” thing was taken way too seriously and I don’t care what her reasoning was for it. Knowing she was treating him like that while he was going through everything he was going through just added more fuel to the fire. Yes, she didn’t know what was going on with him behind the scenes cause he just took all her insults and unfair treatment with a calm demeanor (which I definitely didn’t like whatsoever), but still gave her no right to treat him so cruelly one day then all of a sudden she switches up and somehow “loves him” like ???? I don’t see them being a good couple regardless of the cute quotes and things they said to and for one another near the end.

Anywho, focusing on better things, like my baby Iakov, I love him. He’s everything I could want in an MMC and I hold him dearly to my chest. He deserves/deserved sooo much better than the hand he was dealt with in life in my opinion. Also, the whole “watercolour” thing with his sister shattered me, especially in the epilogue (if you know, you know.)

I can’t wait to dive into Luca-the devil-Lowe’s book. Ugh, I’m so interested in what’s gonna happen between him and Willow thanks to the crumbs we got in Iakov’s book. Onto the next!

Book Synopsis:

It’s been years since I’ve seen my best friend’s little sister. Beautiful Zahara, hiding all her sadness behind her thorny exterior. I would have done anything to keep her safe, but she hated me anyway.

One night, everything changed and she told me she never wanted to see me again. I’m nothing if not obedient—her dog through and through. So I stayed away from her.

Then my best friend asks me for the one favour I can never deny him: protect his little sister—against her will if I have to.

Zahara Blackwood

In London's high society, I hide behind the glittering mask of a socialite, concealing all the broken pieces of me. I thought I could take charge of my destiny—until the stalker who’s been haunting me for years breaks into my home.

My brother's solution? Turn to the one man I swore to never see again. Tall, tattooed, messed-up Iakov Kavinski, my brother’s best friend and my infuriating protector.

Now, we're trapped together, teetering on the edge of attraction and resentment, a precarious balance of desire and denial.

And I refuse to be the first to fall.
